Write left.
Sketch right.

Lines on the left, dots on the right: you sketch on the softer right page. Every direction has its own interior, this list follows the direction you pick at the top. Hover a page to look through the loupe. Every page has its number, a header and scan marks, so a phone scan crops and sorts itself.

020Sizes

Pocket or desk.

A6 goes everywhere: a hoodie pocket, a jacket, a small bag. A5 stays on the desk for meetings and big sketches. Both are drawn here at actual size.

Shown at true millimetres. Most screens are within a few percent.

024The build

Heavy in the hand.
Flat on the table.

Built for designers, and just as good for artists, founders and anyone who thinks with a pen.

01

Black book cloth

Japanese buckram over 2.5 mm board. The spray tag is blind debossed, pressed in with no ink.

02

Lime painted edges

All three edges painted lime #82FF1F. Closed, it is a black block with a lime cut. The only colour on the book.

03

Edge index new

Day sheets and trace layers carry a bleed mark at the outer edge, so the closed edge reads like a barcode and you can open straight to them.

04

Scan-ready pages new

Corner marks plus a 10-bit page code on every page. A phone scan crops perfectly and sorts by number, on normal paper, with no app.

05

Opens 180° flat

Thread-sewn signatures with an exposed spine. Draw across the full spread without fighting the gutter.

06

Vellum trace layer new

A translucent sheet every 32 pages, printed with a construction grid. Lay it over the last round and draw the next one on top.

07

Day sheets

Done, waiting on, next. One every 16 pages, so the work and the plan live in one book.

08

Pattern endpapers

Growth rings inside the front cover, contour lines inside the back, printed ink on ink.

09

120 g natural paper

Fedrigoni Arena Natural Smooth. Markers, brush pens and fountain pens stay on their side.

10

The details

Silver satin ribbon, black elastic, a back pocket with three stickers, a ruler on the pocket and a numbered edition of 100.

028Quote pages

Lines to
think with.

36 quote pages scattered through the book at random, about two of mine to every one from the people who shaped how we think. Shown here in the order you meet them, each with its page number. Only quotes with a real source get printed.

026The Twin

Paper first.
Then it lives twice.

The tech is printed into the pages of B Twin and D One of One: corner marks and a page code on every page, a QR on the title page, an NFC tag under the endpaper. Your phone does the rest, with any pen, no special paper, no subscription.

01

Scan

Photograph any page. The corner marks crop and flatten it, the page code says exactly which page it is.

02

It lands on its page

Tap the cover or scan the title QR: your book opens as a digital twin, every scan on its own page, in this same 3D book.

03

It acts

Ticked boxes on day sheets become tasks. Vellum sketches become clean SVG. Thumbnail frames go to Figma. Painted swatches become hex codes.

04

Proof of the hand

Every scanned page is signed as human work, with a public proof page. In the age of prompts, that is the feature.

030Five directions

Five ways
to make it.

Three clear directions, then two that go further than any notebook has gone. D reacts to warmth: move your cursor over its cover, here or in 3D. E is the fashion house version. Every direction opens live in the 3D book at the top.

192The last page

No prompt.
No preset.
No undo.

Every idea worth building starts as a bad sketch. This book is for thinking before rendering, for the first version nobody asked for.
